US officials to recommend change in hostage policy
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleUS officials tell ABC News that the National Counterterrorism Center is set to recommend to the White House that families who negotiate with terrorists abroad for the release of their relatives, or raise money for ransom, should not be prosecuted.
“There will be absolutely zero chance of any family member of an American held hostage overseas ever facing jail themselves, or even the threat of prosecution, for trying to free their loved ones,” says one official.
