US puts Israel among leaders in combating human trafficking

The United States ranks Israel in the top tier of countries in the fight against human trafficking in its annual report.

There are some 30 nations in Tier 1, including the US, UK, Denmark, France, Germany and Ireland. These nations, the report states, “fully comply with the TVPA’s [Trafficking Victims Protection Act] minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking.”

Among Israel’s neighbors, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon are placed in Tier 2 and Syria is in Tier 3.
