A Petah Tikva woman died Thursday after she was apparently stabbed by her husband in what police suspect was a murder-suicide attempt.

Paramedics rushed the woman, thought to be in her 30s, to the city’s Beilinson Hospital with stab wounds on her upper body.

Her 42-year-old husband was also taken to the same hospital in serious condition with stab wounds to his upper body. The couple’s 17-year-old son was lightly wounded in trying to defend his mother and was being treated in Schneider children’s hospital.

Police said that the husband stabbed his wife after suspecting her of infidelity, the Ynet news site reported. Officers added that the family was known to social services.

According to reports, the wife called paramedics at 8:45 a.m., telling them what had happened, before collapsing. When the ambulance and paramedic services arrived at the apartment in Shalom Tsalah Street, they found the woman unconscious and in critical condition.
