The music of British rock band Queen is coming to Israel with “We Will Rock You,” one of the longest-running musicals in London’s West End history.
The musical is based on 24 hit songs by Queen and will be performed in English with translation into Hebrew.
Performances will take place August 30 through September 9 at the Israeli Opera house.
This isn’t the story of the band Queen, but rather a futuristic tale about a group of iconoclasts who want to return to a world of free thought, dress and music.
Based on a book written by Ben Elton, “We Will Rock You” has long been panned by critics, but quickly became an audience favorite.

In 2014, The Los Angeles Times called it “a barely there story set in a corporatized dystopia,” but fans have clearly loved this so-called jukebox musical — a stage musical or film with a majority of popular music, rather than original songs — and flocked to it for years.
The musical ran for 10 years at the West End’s Dominion Theatre before going on the road with international touring productions.
