NY comic Iris Bahr brings alter ego to Tel Aviv variety show

As the rain pours down and Omicron rages, many of us could use some cheering up.
For some, the answer is a night out. In Tel Aviv jazz club Shablul on Monday night, award-winning writer, actor, director and producer Iris Bahr presents an evening of comedy and jazz and a guest, Israeli actor Noa Koler.
In the English-language variety show, Bahr plays her alter ego Rae Lynn Caspar White, whom Bahr describes as a “Southern intellectual, professional body surrogate and life coach.”
Bahr specializes in creating alter egos for her solo shows onstage. She’ll be speaking in character Monday night with Koler, who is known for her recent roles in Kan 11’s “Checkout” and “Rehearsals.” Bahr performed a similar show monthly in New York, in which she interviewed movie directors and political commentators.
Bahr may be better known to some TV viewers for her recurring role on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” as the Orthodox Jewish woman Rachel Heinemann who once got stuck on a ski lift with Larry David.
An American who was brought up in Israel from the age of 13, Bahr recently completed a run of her third solo show, “I Lost You There” at New York City’s Cherry Lane Theatre.
She performs regularly in the US and abroad.
Israel’s “Green Pass” coronavirus restrictions are set to change Sunday night and midnight. Instead of the Green Pass — proof of vaccination, recovery, or a recent negative COVID test — being required at most indoor venues, it will be required only at event halls, dance clubs and the like.
