The Justice Ministry’s Police Internal Investigations Department arrested an officer Wednesday on suspicion that he sexually harassed and indecently assaulted a woman, including offering to go easy on her in return for sexual favors.

In July, the woman, who was suspected of traffic offenses, came in for questioning at a police station in the Negev region in the south of the country.

The investigation is reviewing suspicions that the officer committed an indecent act and that, during the interrogation, he spoke to the woman in a sexually inappropriate way.

The woman also claims that after he questioned her, the officer called her up to arrange a private meeting and proposed easing the charges against her if she provided sexual favors.

In 2016 two police officers in Ashdod were indicted after they allegedly told a woman to strip, then filmed her and shared the video with his fellow officer.
