Two suspects have been detained on suspicion of the kidnap and rape of a 15-year-old girl, Israel Police said Monday.
According to Hebrew-language media reports, the teen was a resident at an educational institution in the north of the country.
Over the weekend, she traveled to the south of the country. After she disappeared, a friend contacted police and said that the girl had been kidnapped in a car, sparking a hunt.
After examining CCTV footage officers found the girl when they located the vehicle in a desert area of the Negev. The girl was reportedly at the side of the road while two residents of the southern Bedouin town of Lakiya were in the car.
They told police that they had only given the girl a lift and denied assaulting her.

However, according to the media, an examination of the girl raised suspicions that she had been sexually assaulted.
The detention of the two suspects was extended until Thursday as the investigation continues. They are expected to be charged with statutory rape and kidnapping.
