‘Well-known businessman’ quizzed after year-old son tests positive for drugs

A man was questioned by police on Sunday after his one-year-old son was found to have traces of cocaine and marijuana in his system.

The child was taken to the Dana Children’s Hospital in Tel Aviv in a “weakened” state on Friday, and tests led to the discovery of the drugs, Hebrew-language media reported.

The man, reportedly a well-known businessman connected to Tel Aviv nightlife, said that he did not know how the child’s condition had come about.

His lawyer, Yossi Zilberg, told Channel 13 news that the father was in shock over the situation and denied any involvement.

“My client has nothing to do with drugs. His wife woke him up in the middle of the night because the baby was not feeling well. They went to a hospital where they found the drug. He is in shock,” Zilberg said.

According to Channel 12 news, the man was questioned for a number of hours before he was granted conditional release.

He did not provide any explanation as to how the drugs came to be in the child’s body.

There was no official statement from police on the matter.
