A 30-year-old woman and a five-month-old baby were killed Friday evening and three others wounded in a traffic accident on Highway 6 near Kiryat Gat in southern Israel.
A military helicopter evacuated the child from the scene of the accident to the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, the Walla news site reported, but she later died of her wounds.
The woman was declared dead at the scene and the baby was in critical condition before being evacuated.
Two other men, one in his 20s and another in his 40s, were moderately injured in the accident and were both evacuated by helicopter to the hospital for emergency treatment.
An 18-year-old woman who suffered moderate injuries and who was trapped in the vehicle was rescued by firefighters and evacuated by ambulance to the Soroka Medical Center as well.

A preliminary investigation suggested that a car with five passengers aboard deviated from its lane — under unclear circumstances — and flipped over, Channel 10 reported. The vehicle came to a halt on the opposite lane.
It is possible that the winter storm that hit Israel on Friday contributed to the difficult driving conditions.
