Police on Monday announced the arrest of two suspects over the 2016 murder of a 6-year-old in a southern Bedouin town.

The suspects were a 52-year-old woman from Ar’ara Banegev and her daughter, a 24-year-old resident of Taibe in central Israel.

The boy they are suspected of killing — who was found dead on the roof of a house — was born to another wife of the woman’s husband, according to the Walla news site, suggesting she was in a polygamous marriage.

The two will be brought before the Beersheba Magistrate’s Court later in the day for a remand hearing.

Their arrest comes after police said they arrested a Palestinian suspect last week from the southern West Bank of Yatta. It was not clear from a police statement what his connection to the murder was.

Police said he was arrested on July 31 and a court had approved keeping him in custody until Thursday.
