Young Palestinian woman dies after being hit during last week’s IDF raid in Jenin
Hanan Mahmoud Khdour was taken to hospital in northern West Bank city after being shot during Israeli raid against suspects tied to deadly Tel Aviv terror shooting
An 18-year-old Palestinian woman died Monday evening from wounds sustained during clashes between gunmen and Israeli troops more than a week earlier in the northern West Bank, Palestinian health officials said.
Hanan Mahmoud Khdour, from the town of Faqqua, was seriously hurt by Israeli fire when soldiers entered the nearby Jenin refugee camp and other towns in the northern West Bank on April 9 to arrest Palestinians suspected of being involved in a terror attack in Tel Aviv in which three Israelis were killed.
The Palestinian Authority’s health ministry said she was taken to a hospital in Jenin, where she died of her wounds on Monday evening.
The IDF did not specify in its statement at the time that the teen had been participating in the clashes. The Palestinian health ministry said she was struck by “Israeli bullets.”
At the time, one Palestinian was killed and at least 13 others were wounded in clashes and gun battles with Israel Defense Forces soldiers. The first dead Palestinian was named as Ahmed as-Saadi, a Palestinian Islamic Jihad gunman from the Jenin refugee camp. His M16 rifle was seized by IDF troops following the firefight.
The IDF said in a statement last week that three people were arrested in the raid, including another gunman who was seriously wounded in the firefight and taken by military helicopter to the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa for treatment.

Recent weeks have seen an uptick in military activity in the northern West Bank amid a spate of deadly attacks in Israel, some of which were perpetrated by those coming from the area.
Tensions have risen sharply between Israel and the Palestinians against the backdrop of repeated terror attacks in Israeli cities that left 14 dead.
At least 17 Palestinians have died in clashes with Israeli forces in the West Bank in recent weeks. Several others have also been killed by Israeli forces while carrying out attacks.
The escalation has come during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan — often a period of high tension in Israel and the West Bank. Israel has ramped up security measures in response to the attacks and deployed additional forces to the West Bank, Gaza border, and major cities, such as Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
