Some 20,000 bike riders took over the streets of Tel Aviv Wednesday for an annual ride around the White City.
The annual Sovev Tel Aviv bicycle event saw some 42 riders injured in various crashes, and at least 12 were hospitalized with light injuries.
Most of the injuries were the result of crashes, collisions or other mishaps. A 50-year old man suffered chest pains during the ride, and at least one pedestrian was injured after being hit by a cyclist, News One reported.
There were at least four children among the injured, most of whom fell off their bicycles during the packed event.
The bicycle ride, now in its fourth year, draws thousands of riders and the Tel Aviv municipality closes several major thoroughfares for the event, including a section of the Ayalon Highway.
