Eilat reopens airport as weather conditions improve
Airport had shut operations earlier due to haze, low visibility and high temperatures

The Eilat airport resumed operations Saturday, several hours after the Israel Airports Authority announced that it had to shut down the airport due to weather conditions.
Flights were rerouted temporarily to Ovda military airport north of the city. Travelers were transferred by bus to the southern city. Authorities warned that delays in scheduling were expected.
Fifty six incoming and outgoing domestic flights to and from Eilat were expected on Saturday.
Israel is experiencing a heat wave across the country with severe haze and temperatures reaching 37 degrees Celsius, with rains expected in the Negev later in the day.
