Former security guard suspected of molesting dozens of kids

A man who used to work as a security guard for the Defense Ministry was arrested recently on allegations that he had sexually attacked dozens of children.
According to suspicions, Itay Darki, 29, would lurk outside elementary schools in Rishon Lezion and Beersheba, where he worked at a high-tech company after leaving his job at the Defense Ministry. He allegedly assaulted girls as well as boys, aged 6-10, in dozens of separate incidents.
According to Channel 2, Darki carried out the assaults after work hours.
Police said a search of his belongings yielded evidence supporting to support the allegations. Police also said that there were probably more victims than currently known who have not yet complained against Darki.
Police on Thursday asked the court to reveal his name in order to encourage other victims to come forward.
A sexual offenses case had been opened for Darki in 2008. He has confessed to at least some of the newer allegations.
“Allegations against my client are severe and are only now being examined by police,” Darki’s lawyer, Asaf Dok, told Channel 2. “When dealing with such an early stage… it is important to remember that the severity of the actions attributed to my client are only the beginning of the [court] discussion — not its conclusion.”
The Defense Ministry clarified that Darki “was not part of the defense minister’s security detail” but rather an employee for a private security firm hired by the ministry, and that he had worked at the Kirya military headquarters between 2009 and 2011.
