Man falls from bridge, dies after stopping to help car

A man was killed Friday night after falling from a bridge on Route 6, east of Hadera. He had apparently stopped his car to assist another driver.
The 24-year-old from the Jerusalem Arab neighborhood of Beit Safafa was apparently trying to help a second driver whose car had hit the guard rail on the bridge, when he fell for reasons unknown, dropping 10 meters (33 feet) to the ground below.
Paramedics evacuated the man via helicopter to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, where doctors tried to save his life. The attempts were unsuccessful, and the man died some time later.
In a second deadly traffic incident Friday night, a man was killed in Ashkelon after a car hit a light post and caught fire. The driver managed to extricate himself from the vehicle and was in moderate condition. Police were investigating the accident.
