A 16-year old Long Island high school student has been arrested for threatening to bomb his Nassau County school in a Facebook post, the New York Post reported on Tuesday.
The student, an Orthodox Jew who reportedly attends the all-male Mesivta Ateres Yaakov school in Lawrence, New York, was charged with making a terrorist threat, which is a felony.
The police said that the teen “had some personal problems” but that the incident had “nothing to do” with the Monday bombing at the Boston Marathon.
Despite the threat, a rabbi at the school told the Post that the school wouldn’t press charges. “We still care about him. We actually said a prayer for him today,” assistant principal Yossi Bennett said.
