A 19-year-old IDF soldier was stabbed in his upper body Thursday alongside a road in northern Israel, between Carmiel and Tefen.

According to Army Radio, he was attacked after he entered an olive grove close to a bus station, where he had been waiting with a friend. The soldier was on his way home for the end of the Passover holiday.

The young man was taken to a hospital in Nahariya by Magen David Adom personnel who were called to the scene. He was reportedly in stable condition.

Police arrested two 16-year-old suspects Thursday evening after conducting an extensive search. They were identified as residents of a nearby village. They were being interrogated as the holiday officially began.
