An Israeli hiker was killed in a zip-line accident in Peru Wednesday, in the third deadly incident involving Israeli citizens abroad reported throughout the day.
The 24-year-old man reportedly fell off a zip-line platform in the Machu Picchu region. The man’s family was notified and the Foreign Ministry confirmed the details of the accident, the Walla News website reported.
According to Hebrew media reports, the platform was 80 meters (260 feet) above the ground.
Also Wednesday a 12-year-old Israeli girl was killed in a Thailand ferry fire while celebrating her bat mitzvah on a family vacation.
The girl, whose name was not initially published, was apparently locked in a bathroom stall and was unable to escape while the evacuation of the boat was taking place, Channel 2 reported.

Meanwhile Israel’s Embassy to Germany said Wednesday that a man beaten to death in Berlin over the weekend was an Israeli citizen.
The man’s body was found in the ruins of a Gothic church near Berlin’s City Hall. The daily Bild newspaper reported that the victim was 22 years old.
Israeli officials do not believe the killing was a hate crime, although the possibility has not been ruled out, Channel 2 reported.
