Most ultra-Orthodox protesters in Jerusalem disperse, freeing traffic at the entrance to the city after two hours of congestion due to an anti-conscription demonstration.

Meanwhile, Israel Police chief Danny Levy orders that law enforcement look into violence against demonstrators, after an officer was filmed kicking and punching one of the protesters earlier.

The protest, sparked by the arrest of three Haredi draft dodgers yesterday, was organized by the radical Jerusalem Faction bloc, which stridently opposes efforts to draft yeshiva students into the army.

Several other demonstrations are occurring simultaneously in Bnei Brak, Beit Shemesh and other areas across the country.

The Jerusalem Faction declares an end to the protest, but some stragglers continue to try to block traffic as Border Police officers push them back onto the sidewalk. No known arrests have been made so far in Jerusalem.
