The IDF announces the closure of a second evacuation route for residents of Gaza City to the southern Gaza Strip that was opened earlier this week.
In its announcement on Wednesday, the military stated that the route, along the Salah a-Din road, would remain open for movement until noon on Friday.
“From this moment, Salah al-Din Road is closed for moving southward,” says Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman.
Palestinians evacuating Gaza City can now only do so via the Rashid coastal road, which has been open for movement for several months.
“The IDF will continue to act with great and unprecedented force against Hamas and the other terror organizations,” Adraee says.
“For your safety, take the opportunity and join the hundreds of thousands of [Gaza] City residents who have moved south to the humanitarian area, and do not allow Hamas to exploit you as human shields,” he adds.
Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
