Brazil said to refuse approval of new Israeli ambassador

Brazil has refused to approve the appointment of Gali Dagan, the former Israeli ambassador to Colombia, as the new envoy to Brazil, leaving the position vacant, Hebrew media reports.
It marks a new low in relations with the South American country, whose president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, last year accused Jerusalem of “genocide” over the war in Gaza, saying the only historical equivalent was “when Hitler decided to kill the Jews.”
Brazil recalled its ambassador to Israel last year and has not appointed a new envoy.
