Chani Lifshitz, a Chabad emissary to Nepal, calls for donations and also asks Israelis and Jews in Nepal to watch out for secondary quakes, NRG reports.
“Two days after the tough quake that took place here we still hear secondary quakes every few hours. The situation is not yet calm, we call on all Israelis not to travel the roads and to stay in open structures,” she said.
Meanwhile the Chabad House in Kathmandu became a makeshift home for the hundreds of Israelis stranded in the area. “We’ve here two days already at the Beit Chabad which is pretty safe. At night there are hundreds of folks sleeping here and they also get to eat a hot dinner. It became their first home here in the area,” she said.
Lifshitz called on Jews everywhere to donate to the Kathmandu Beit Chabad since “we need to get all the basic products which are running out – water, rice and vegetables, equipment, medicine, all these things. We will be happy if you help us so we can help others. We have here guys who have not left the Chabad House and it has effectively become their home.”

Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
