The past 24 hours have been tumultuous even by the standards of the previous days of Israel’s war with Hamas.
Yesterday ended in Israel with the government openly at odds with Secretary Kerry, after ministers voted unanimously against his ceasefire proposal. And there was confusion about whether a 12-hour truce would go into effect today.
Fighting in Gaza was intensive, with two IDF soldiers killed — one, Guy Levy, by an anti-tank missile fired from near a UN school, Israel said. The Gaza death toll rose inexorably.
In the West Bank, after Hamas urged protests, a series of clashes and confrontations left six Palestinians reported killed.
And 80 rockets were fired into Israel.
We’ll keep you updated on how things play out from now on.
