Gaza protesters breach border fence with Israel

Dozens of Palestinians break through the border fence separating Israel and Gaza during a violent demonstration in the southern Strip, the IDF says.

The riot began several hours ago and is ongoing, the army says.

Troops on the scene are using nonlethal riot control measures to force the Gaza residents back, an IDF spokeswoman says. Measures include tear gas, rubber bullets and other means besides live rounds.

Earlier today a separate violent demonstration took place in the northern Gaza Strip.
