The IDF says it carried out strikes in northern Gaza today and yesterday, targeting armed Hamas operatives who it says posed an immediate threat to troops.
According to the military, an armed cell was struck earlier today near forces deployed along the Yellow Line, while in a separate incident yesterday, troops from the 14th Reserve Armored Brigade identified five operatives approaching the ceasefire line.
The air force carried out strikes in both cases, guided by ground forces. The IDF says most of the operatives were killed and additional casualties were identified, without providing further details.
The official Palestinian news agency Wafa reports one person killed and several others wounded, some seriously, in today’s strike, and another killed with several injured in yesterday’s incident. Civilians were reportedly among the casualties.
The military adds that steps were taken to minimize civilian harm, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.
