Iranian president says ‘rioters and terrorists’ must not disrupt society, blames Israel and US

“Rioters and terrorists” should not be allowed to disrupt Iranian society, the country’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian, says in his first remarks after three nights of intensified protests against the authorities.
“The people [of Iran] should not allow rioters to disrupt society. The people should believe that we [the government] want to establish justice,” he tells state broadcaster IRIB.
He says that the US and Israel want to “sow chaos and disorder” in Iran by ordering “riots.”
