Israeli cabinet approves 24-hour truce extension

Media reports say that the Israeli security cabinet has approved a 24 hour extension of the humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip, until Sunday at 8p.m. Hamas, however, has rejected an extension of the original 12-hour truce which elapsed at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Earlier in the evening, UN special envoy Robert Serry called on Israel to hold its fire for another 24 hours.
