A known anti-government activist from central Israel was arrested two weeks ago after she conspired to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Kan public broadcaster reports, with Israel Police confirming the case.
According to police, the woman, in her 70s, was investigated by police and the Shin Bet security service.
Police say she approached other protesters to try and acquire weapons and information about the prime minister’s security arrangements.
The Kan public broadcaster, which first reported on the case, says that the woman, from Tel Aviv, was arrested two weeks ago and then released with an order to stay away from the premier and government buildings.
Tomorrow, criminal and terror charges are set to be filed against the woman, the report adds.
A court-issued gag order is in place regarding the suspect’s name and address, police say.
