Lebanon’s military says that the Iranian missile that exploded over Lebanon yesterday was not targeting the country.

Two Lebanese sources told Reuters that the missile was intercepted by a “foreign naval vessel,” apparently referring to the United States.

A military examination based on the analysis of the fragments that fell in Lebanon “revealed that the missile was a guided ballistic missile of the Qader-110 type,” says the Lebanese Armed Forces on X, “Iranian-made, approximately 16 meters in length with a range of about 2,000 km, and containing several small-sized missiles.”

“It exploded at a high altitude, which suggests that its target was outside Lebanese territory,” says the LAF, adding that it can’t determine whether it was intercepted or malfunctioned.
