Senior Palestinian Authority and Board of Peace officials met on the sidelines of a donor gathering in Brussels this week to discuss coordination on Gaza’s recovery and reconstruction, according to a statement from the Board’s technocratic National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.

Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, Finance Minister Istifan Salameh, and Mustafa’s adviser Omar Awadallah met with Board of Peace High Representative for Gaza Nikolay Mladenov, NCAG head Ali Shaath, and NCAG Finance Commissioner Bashir Al-Rayes and discussed coordinating efforts aimed at “improving humanitarian conditions and preparing the necessary circumstances to initiate the recovery and reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip,” according to the statement.

The committee also welcomes a newly launched European Union initiative expected to provide some $1 billion to support Gaza’s recovery efforts, announced on Monday ahead of the donor meeting, which included over 12 donor nations alongside the European Investment Bank and the World Bank.

Shaath hails the advancement of the “Gaza Team” initiative, which is meant to support the NCAG’s recovery plans for Gaza under US President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan for the Strip.

Board of Peace officials have said that they intend to advance the plan — which has stalled in recent months amid dragged-out talks on Hamas disarmament and continued fighting between Israel and the terror group — even without Hamas agreeing to disarm, by beginning reconstruction only in areas under IDF control.

The United Nations estimates reconstruction in the Strip will take years and require tens of billions of dollars.
