Top diplomats call for extension to 12-hour Israel-Hamas truce

Top diplomats in Paris, among them US Secretary of State John Kerry and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, are calling for an extension to the 12-hour humanitarian truce between Israel and Hamas.

The lull is set to end at 8 pm local time.

“We all call on parties to extend the humanitarian ceasefire,” Fabius told reporters after a meeting in Paris with Kerry and their counterparts from Britain, Germany, Italy, Qatar and Turkey, as well as an EU representative.
