Trump denies switching planes due to security concerns, but says he faces threats from ‘sleazebags’

US President Donald Trump was asked again last night if a security concern was what led to the decision to use the old Air Force One, rather than the new plane gifted from Qatar, for his trip back from Turkey.

“No, no,” he responded during a gaggle with reporters aboard the old Air Force One plane. The Qatari-gifted one was used for the trip to Ankara.

Trump insisted the Qatari-gifted plane was only being left in Europe so it could be taken to US bases there for soldiers to marvel at.

Apparently unconvinced, reporters asked Trump why they were ordered to close their window blinds on the plane if there really aren’t any security concerns.

“You’re probably on a dangerous flight because of the sleazebags that we have to deal with,” Trump quipped, referring to purported threats on his life from Iran.

“They asked you to close your windows. They didn’t ask me to close mine, but if they did, I would’ve done it,” he said.

Asked again if he was aware of any credible Iranian threats against Air Force One, Trump dodged.

“Well, I have a threat all the time. I’m number one on their list… But if I go, you go. Right? Perhaps someday you’ll want to change professions,” he joked to reporters on board.

The New York Times reported that the change of planes was a security precaution recommended by the Security Service, not a concrete threat.
