Turkey disappointed by pope’s Armenia comments
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleTurkey expresses disappointment over comments by Pope Francis I, who said on Sunday morning that the fate of Armenians during World War I was the first genocide of the 20th century.
The government in Ankara summoned the Vatican’s envoy to protest the pope’s comments and later published a statement saying that the pope’s comments create a lack of trust between the government and the Vatican.
