Turkey says it ‘will not fall into trap’ set by Netanyahu in Syria
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleTurkey “will not fall into the trap” set by Israel, the Turkish presidency states, after Israel struck an airbase in northern Syria and said a Turkish military delegation had recently visited the site.
“We are experienced enough not to fall into the trap of figures like [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, who aim to undermine peace and stability in our region,” says Burhanettin Duran, the Turkish presidency’s director of communications.
Turkey has denied a military visit to the site.
But Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani acknowledged yesterday that Turkish military officers had recently visited the airbase in question, though he denied any plans for a Turkish military deployment.
