At least two Israeli nationals were aboard one of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s boats that attempted to break Israel’s maritime blockade on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip this morning, according to the organizers.
Forces of the Shayetet 13 naval commando unit and other Israeli Navy forces took control of nine vessels part of the flotilla, including one named Conscience, a 68-meter-long passenger ship. In all, some 150 activists were detained.
The FFC publishes images of many of the activists detained by the Israeli Navy, calling on others to contact their respective governments and demand their release.
The organization also publishes a graphic of two Israelis who it says were on board the Conscience, but it does not call to contact Israeli authorities to demand their release.
“Israeli passport holders will likely be processed differently by authorities and may not require embassy assistance if processed under Israeli law,” the FFC says.
They are named by the group as Zohar Chamberlain Regev and Omer Sharir.
