Ukrainian intelligence says Iran seeks Belarus’s help to fix defenses damaged in war with Israel
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleIran is seeking Belarus’s assistance to restore its defense capabilities damaged during the 12-day war with Israel in June, the Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service said in a statement, cited by Ukrainian media yesterday.
Belarus’s President Alexander Lukashenko met in Minsk with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian earlier in the week, and while their talks officially discussed economic ties, Ukrainian intelligence said Tehran sought help with repairing its air defense and electronic warfare systems.
“Unlike Russia, Belarus is less restricted by sanctions in the military-technical sphere and could become a channel for restoring Iran’s defense capabilities,” the statement said.
