US envoy on Iran: Washington, Jerusalem don’t want repeat of Obama-era conflict

US envoy on Iran Robert Malley tells Axios neither Washington nor Jerusalem wish to see a return to the very public discord that existed between the countries’ leaderships during the runup to the signing of the 2015 nuclear accord with Tehran.

Ahead of the meeting of the nations’ national security advisors tomorrow, Malley says: “We don’t always agree, but the talks are extremely open and positive. While we may have different interpretations and views as to what happened in 2015–2016, neither of us wishes to repeat it,” Malley said.

Unnamed Israeli officials tell Axios their focus during tomorrow’s round of talks will be to provide American officials with their latest intelligence on Iran’s nuclear program.
