US launches ‘powerful’ strikes on Iran following attacks on ships in Strait of Hormuz
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe US military has launched a series of strikes against Iran, US Central Command says in a post on X, adding that the strikes are in response to what it says were Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels that were transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
According to CENTCOM, the “powerful strikes” are meant to “impose heavy costs” on Iran “for targeting and attacking commercial shipping crewed by innocent civilians in an international waterway.”
“Iran’s demonstrated aggression was unwarranted, dangerous, and a clear violation of the ceasefire,” it adds.
