Emmanuel Macron’s dog on Monday brought more than comic relief to a meeting at the Elysee palace when he literally relieved himself in the presence of the French President and three junior ministers.
Rescue dog Nemo (‘nobody’ in Latin), was caught on video lifting his leg against an elegant fireplace, bringing the meeting to a hilarious halt.
“…And the dog is doing something quite exceptional,” the president can be heard saying in French.
“I was wondering what that noise was,” said one of the junior ministers.
“Does this happen often?” asks another.

Macron replies, “No. You have triggered totally unusual behaviour in my dog!”
In August, Nemo, a black labrador, stole the show when he accompanied the president during a welcome for Niger’s leader Mahamadou Issoufou.

The BBC reported that Nemo is not the first dog to enjoy high jinks in the French presidential palace.
Sumo, Jacques Chirac’s miniature white Maltese, was so distraught at having to leave the palace that he attacked Mr Chirac and had to be put on anti-depressants, the Guardian newspaper reported. Sumo was pensioned off to a farm, where he did not bite again.
Nikolas Sarkozy’s dogs reportedly caused thousands of Euros of damage to highly valuable palace furniture in Napoleon’s Silver Room, according to the French website Mediapart.
