The “explosions and storms” in the Middle East are becoming stronger, yet Israel remains an island of stability, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday at a Rosh Hashanah toast with the IDF General Staff Forum.

Netanyahu attributed the atmosphere in Israel to the operations and capabilities of the IDF. Even among a wave of radical revolutions, toppling regimes, and general chaos in its surrounding region, Israel has remained an oasis of calm and stability, he said.

“We live in an volatile and stormy region. Its explosions and storms are increasing. The strength of the IDF has helped ensure that we remain an island of stability amidst the storms,” said the prime minister.

“From time to time, actions became necessary, and they were carried out with great success. Israeli citizens must know what I know — that we can rely on the IDF,” he concluded, adding that military officials were doing their jobs expertly.
