A 25-year-old Palestinian woman was arrested on Monday afternoon at the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem after guards found a knife in her backpack.

The woman, identified by authorities only as a resident of the West Bank, was passing through the checkpoint into Israel.

The knife was found during a routine check of her bag by border guards. It was hidden inside a Pringles container.

She was taken for questioning by police.

The checkpoint is the largest on Jerusalem’s northern edge, separating metropolitan Jerusalem from the Palestinian city of Ramallah.
