Three teenagers from the central city of Herzliya were arrested Monday on suspicion of gang raping a 17-year-old girl, police said.

According to police, the victim was brought to the home of one of the suspects — with whom she was an acquaintance — where the other two suspects were waiting.

“They then proceeded to rape her, one after the other, for several hours,” police said.

According to the Haaretz newspaper, one of the suspects admitted to having sexual relations with the victim, but said that it was consensual and that he was willing to undergo a polygraph examination.

The incident reportedly took place last weekend. The arrests were made on Monday after a friend of the victim filed a complaint with police on Sunday, Haaretz reported.

A hearing on the extension of the remand of one of the suspects was scheduled to take place at the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court Monday evening, while the other two will be brought before the court on Tuesday.
