Driver, who abandoned his vehicle at the scene, arrested after police manhunt

A policeman was seriously wounded on Saturday when a car hit the motorcycle he was riding on in Tel Aviv, prompting a manhunt for the driver who fled the scene.

Police launched a massive search for the driver, who abandoned his vehicle after the crash, including a police helicopter and an appeal to the public for assistance.

The suspected driver was arrested a short while later, police said.

The accident occurred on the Ayalon Highway in Tel Aviv. The officer was taken to the Ichilov Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
