A 19-year-old female soldier on weekend furlough was gravely injured overnight Friday when a reveler fell on her in a Beersheba nightclub.

Doron Ganon was sitting in a couch on the ground floor of the multistoried Forum nightclub in the city.

A reveler dancing on a balcony above her fell and hit her on the head, injuring two vertebrae in Ganon’s neck.

She was rushed the Soroka Medical Center in the city after paramedics put her in a medically induced coma and connected her to life support.

On Saturday Ganon underwent a nine-hour surgical procedure to treat a blood clot.

Ganon cannot move her arms or legs as a result of the injury and doctors at the Soroka Medical Center said she was “in very serious condition in the intensive care unit.”

The clubber who fell on her was unharmed.

Her father, Yehuda Ganon, said “they called me from the club when it happened at 2:30 a.m. I immediately reached the hospital. We don’t know if the people who fell on her were arrested. Her friends are not hurt. The entire family is at Soroka now. She is breathing artificially, there is a blood clot in the area and they are doing everything they can to prevent it reaching her brain.”

“This is a bad injury,” he said. “In my worst nightmares I did not think something like this would happen, I didn’t imagine something like this. I thought she was just bruised, nothing beyond that. This is simply a shock.”

Ganon’s soldier brother was wounded last summer during the war in Gaza.

“We are still not over that… this is a double blow,” Yehuda Ganon said.
