Israeli stylist behind Melania’s ‘Jackie Kennedy’ hair

First Lady Melania Trump’s chic look for for her husband’s swearing-in ceremony on Friday, which won praise from fashionistas, was created in part by the former model’s longtime Israeli hairstylist.

Forgoing her usual preference to leave her long hair down, Trump paired her custom-made powder blue Ralph Lauren suit with a side-swept elegant updo.

On Friday morning, Trump’s cashmere bolero-style jacket and mock turtleneck dress prompted comparisons to her 1960s predecessor Jackie Kennedy, the wife of assassinated Democratic president John F. Kennedy, of whom she has spoken admiringly.

Mordechai Alvow, who has styled Trump’s hair for over a decade, told Us weekly that he let his client’s classic outfit influence her hair.

“The outfit had beautiful tailoring, including a super high collar that is great for her long neck, and a 1950s feel, modernized with a touch of origami shapes,” Alvow said. “It was important to make sure her hair not interfere with the clean lines and monochrome color, so we decided to put her hair up, which also allowed her amazing bone structure to take center stage.”

Asked by Yahoo Beauty if he would move to Washington DC to become the first lady’s permanent stylist in the White House, Alvow said definitive plans have yet to be made.

“We’re taking it a day at a time,” Alvow said. “So we will cross that bridge together as it comes.”

Mrs. Trump’s look earned her some rave reviews from the fashion world.

“I think she looked sensational,” New York fashion expert Hal Rubenstein said of the new first lady’s style. “She’s not a huge risk-taker, but she dresses in that smart, sophisticated Upper East Side urban style.”
