Defense Ministry signs $48m wartime artillery shell deal with Elbit

The Defense Ministry announces it has signed a deal worth more than NIS 150 million ($48 million) with Elbit Systems to purchase tens of thousands of 155mm artillery shells, as it seeks to bolster the IDF’s readiness for ongoing fighting.
The munitions will be produced at Elbit facilities across the country, which are operating at an accelerated pace to meet wartime demand.
According to the Defense Ministry, the deal is part of a broader push, led by Defense Minister Israel Katz and the ministry’s Director General Amir Baram, to strengthen Israel’s domestic arms production and reduce reliance on foreign supply chains.
