Hamas officials say Gaza technocrats to oversee ‘cataloging and storage of weapons’

Senior Hamas officials say they have reached a deal to end the conflict with Israel, after US President Donald Trump announced that the terrorist group was prepared to disarm.

Two officials from Hamas, speaking on condition of anonymity, tell AFP that they’ve come to an agreement, which they say includes provisions addressing its arsenal and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.

“An agreement has been reached regarding the issue of weapons… Furthermore, an agreement has been reached on a gradual withdrawal of (Israeli forces)” from the strip, a Hamas official says, adding that the Islamist terrorist movement now expects the mediators and the Board of Peace to ensure that Israel complies with the terms of the deal.

One of the senior officials says the Palestinian technocratic committee established by the Board of Peace to govern Gaza will oversee the process of storing Hamas’s weapons under the agreement.

“The National Committee for Administration of Gaza (NCAG) shall manage and execute the cataloging and storage of weapons in accordance with the agreed timetable,” the official says.

“The National Committee will be the sole entity authorized to retain, store, or control weapons in Gaza.”
