The Health Ministry releases figures from the first 6 months of the year indicating people with preexisting medical conditions who are vaccinated against COVID-19 are better protected against serious morbidity than their unvaccinated peers who have no existing health risks.

The ministry relied on data from two age groups — Israelis age 40-49 and 70-79 — to compare rates of serious morbidity. The statistics show a lower percentage of serious cases among the vaccinated with preexisting conditions compared to people in the same age bracket who are unvaccinated, regardless of any comorbidity.
