Marking the second Hebrew anniversary of the October 7, 2023, onslaught, the IDF publishes a new image showing senior commanders standing above the body of Hamas leader and October 7 architect Yahya Sinwar, who was killed in a chance encounter with troops in southern Gaza’s Rafah exactly a year ago.

The image shows former Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Yaron Finkelman, former Operations Directorate chief Maj. Gen. Oded Basiuk, and Gaza Division chief Brig. Gen. Barak Hiram standing over Sinwar’s body on October 17, 2024, a day after he had been killed.

The photo is released by the military as part of a set of iconic images taken by combat photographers during the war, which will be displayed in an exhibition at the Yitzhak Rabin Center in Tel Aviv from Sunday.
