Lapid slams PM’s Holocaust Day Speech as ‘a moral and ethical low’

Opposition Leader Yair Lapid slams Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s annual Holocaust Day speech at Yad Vashem as “a moral and ethical low,” after the premier uses the platform to boast of his successes against Iran in the recent war.
“Unlike Netanyahu, I didn’t want to engage in politics on Holocaust Remembrance Day, so I waited for it to end,” says Lapid in a statement.
“The man on whose watch the greatest disaster since the Holocaust happened to the Jewish people claims that he prevented a second Holocaust. The man who promised to eliminate Hamas and failed, to eliminate Hezbollah and failed, to eliminate Iran and failed, once again explains that he will protect the people of Israel,” he says, laying into Netanyahu for doing “everything to promote and finance evasion from the Jewish army.”
“One day you puff up and say that we are a ‘world power’ and the next day you come forward and take risks and explain to us that we were miraculously saved from another Holocaust. It’s a disgrace.”
During his remarks last night, Netanyahu said that if Israel and the United States “hadn’t acted” against Iran’s nuclear, missile and other military targets, “the names Natanz, Fordow, Isfahan and Parchin would likely have been remembered with eternal dread, precisely like Auschwitz, Treblinka, Majdanek, and Sobibor.”
